Burlington Arcade X Haidilao

This Autumn, Burlington Arcade and China’s most recognised restaurant brand Haidilao have collaborated to launch a special Mid-Autumn festival mooncake. Michelin star Chef Ling took inspiration from architecture within the historic 200-year-old retail destination located in Mayfair London, to create beautifully bespoke mooncakes. The collaboration will be Haidilao’s first venture in launching mooncakes, and Burlington Arcade are honored to be their partner.

The elegant design of the rosette mooncake resonates from Burlington Arcade’s rich heritage and a key design icon within the landmark itself. While the taste of the mooncake is custard in flavour, the colour is cherry in line with Burlington Arcade’s brand identity. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the limited-edition mooncakes will be available exclusively at Haidilao.

Burlington Arcade X Haidilao Special Menu

To continue with Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, Haidilao are launching a special Burlington Arcade menu to complement their famous Hot Pot, which will be available from 1st October until 31st December 2020 at Haidilao’s London restaurant.
Chef Ling has always been fond of British heritage and to support with curating a special menu, Mark Lord (Head Beadle) assisted with a personalised tour of Burlington Arcade to understand its history. The limited-edition Burlington Arcade menu consist of four different types of treats to be enjoyed alongside Haidilao’s famous Hot Pot. To begin the journey ‘Dance of The Sea’ will leave diners experiencing the taste of smoked salmon, crab, shrimp and Japanese Hokkaido tartar, melting amongst taste buds. The dish “Dance of The Sea” perfectly complements the origins of Burlington Arcade as the fast-food option 200 years ago were oysters. Empty oyster shells would be thrown into the backyard of Lord Cavendish’s estate who commissioned Burlington Arcade to be built. Burlington Arcade is one of the earliest glass-covered shopping galleries in Europe. The architecture retains the style of the Regency era and is a monument of British cultural heritage.

Once diners have enjoyed the famous Haidilao Hot Pot, room for dessert is recommended. Chef Ling has created “Hi Sweet Burlington”- a red velvet cake patterned with the delicate Burlington Arcade rosette and paired with fresh whipped cream.

To assist the delicious food, bespoke drinks have also been created by famous mixologist Valerio Politano. There are two refreshing options available with the first being “Purple Gem” containing Merlot Ventiterre, Cranberry juice and Grenadine. The non-alcoholic option named “Tropical Burlington”, consists of Pineapple, Orange Juice and Grenadine.
